2022 WhatSpa? and WhatSwimSpa?
The Hot Tub and SwimSpa Centre are delighted to have received the 2022 WhatSpa? and WhatSwimSpa? seal of approvals. This approved scheme is a unique hallmark of quality and is only awarded to companies who meet exacting high standards.
The Approval Scheme offers the customer peace of mind that comes from knowing companies are reputable, well established, have a professional infrastructure and a good track record within the industry, so they are the logos to look out for.
In order to win coveted WhatSpa? and WhatSwimSpa? Approved status we must feature a minimum number of display spas and prove that we have all of the insurance requirements and trained staff in both water hygiene and safety as well as technical backup and maintenance.
We also have to pass a stringent extra set of criteria, including professional training accreditation by attending industry-recognised hot tub technician courses.
New to our showroom is the new Designer range of hot tubs. Already proving extremely popular they are made to our own high standard specification. They come in a choice of seat and lounger combinations, different sizes to meet everyones requirements, bluetooth music and LED lighting and a choice of how many pumps too!!!

Can a hot tub help with Chronic Pain?
We are certainly not into making medical claims, but it is a known fact that many of our customers will purchase a hot tub to help them reduce chronic pain. You may have arthritis, spine or disc problems or just work in an environment where you have constant muscle ache.
The Arthritis Foundation has said, If you have a chronic condition like fibromyalgia, arthritis, or lower back pain, try heating things up. Soaking in warm water or applying a heated compress is one of the oldest, cheapest, and safest forms of complementary therapy. Research has shown that heat treatments can loosen stiff joints and relieve achy muscles.
Here is how it works. When you warm up a sore joint or tired muscle, your blood vessels get bigger. This allows more blood, oxygen, and nutrients to be delivered to the injured tissues. Better circulation means more relaxation for those stiff muscles and joints.
Soaking in a hot tub can help to improve flexibility and increase blood flow to the body’s extremities. This makes it much easier for the heart to pump blood to deliver the results. How may you ask?
The heated water of a hot tub will relax your muscles. When this happens, it improves the blood flow to the body, which allows oxygen and other nutrients to circulate around your body faster, banishing the painful effects of lactic acid or aching muscles and eases the pain in your joints. Hot tubs have specially designed adjustable warm water jets which will deliver deep tissue hydro-massage to specific points of the body’s muscle-skeletal system.
Wellis brand
Our Wellis brand takes Wellness therapy very seriously. They constantly research and design technologies that work together in synergy to further enhance the benefits of Hydrotherapy through their products. PULSAR programmable massage is just one example of focusing technology to provide hydrotherapy exactly tailored to everyone’s needs. Pulsar is the exclusive Wellis programmable massage system that lets you choose from up to 9 different massage therapies.
Not only will a session in a hot tub help to reduce pain, it should also give you a really good night’s sleep. Basically, when you leave the hot tub this will trigger a drop in body temperature which releases sleep-inducing endorphin’s and leads to a better night sleep.
The NHS will sometimes refer people to hydrotherapy as this will support the treatment to reduce pain. The main reason for a hydrotherapy pool is to help with the patients exercise routine.
A swimspa is a perfect solution to exercise and have the benefit of the heated water.
Before making any attempts at pain relief, a proper diagnosis should be made by a healthcare professional if you haven’t already done this!
The two types of pain
Chronic pain is what we have been discussing. This is where the pain is generally constant because of your health. Chronic pain is ongoing and usually lasts longer than six months. The pain signals remain active in the nervous system for weeks, months, or even years. Chronic pain is linked to conditions including headaches, arthritis, cancer, nerve pain, back pain and fibromyalgia.
Acute pain usually comes on suddenly and is caused by something specific like surgery, broken bones or a sporting injury. Acute pain usually does not last longer than six months. A hot tub is still ideal to help with the reduction of acute pain, but other treatments will help with the rehabilitation process. Seeing a physio or osteopath is often advised but another excellent route would be sports therapy.
The definition of sports therapy is ‘an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.’

I hope that you have enjoyed reading our blog. If you would like to find out more why how a hot tub or swimspa can help with pain relief, give us a call on 01603 860660 or visit our showroom.
We have launched our new website at www.thehottubcentre.co.uk and we are super excited to introduce you to our new look and functionality features.
The website has been designed with a key goal to help visitors find their ideal Hot Tub or Swim Spa. Today there are lots of different choices available and we wanted to make sure we can easily signpost visitors to the right area of our website.
The biggest change to our site is the functionality of showing people the range of Hot Tubs by capacity, the number of people each Hot Tub will seat. This has been one area of customer feedback which we have received in the past where we wanted to implement a solution resulting in easier navigation. From the view by capacity page, you can now select the capacity of either 2-4 persons, 5-6 persons or 7-10 person hot tubs.
You are then presented with the range of Hot Tubs by either Wellis, Arctic Spas or American Whirlpool. You can then drill down to each individual Hot Tub and see the different colour choices for the shell and cabinet together with all the features.
I hope you agree that the new site is fresh and engaging, much faster than before and has more information on the benefits of Hot Tubs and Swim Spas. This includes the health benefits where it explains how hydrotherapy is one of the most popular forms of therapeutic treatment for everyone, regardless of age. We often refer to pain relief and relaxation as the two main benefits of hydrotherapy.
Visit our new photo gallery page where we have uploaded various photographs of installations that we have carried out since 2003! We will continue to add new images on a regular basis.
The other key benefit of our new website is being fully-responsive, meaning that it can easily be navigated through a range of devices, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices and tablets. We are a nation of mobile users, so we need to deliver a first-class experience wherever you are viewing from.
Going forward, the team will continue to communicate regularly through our blogs and provide new articles and social media notifications. We also plan to continue to add more videos and product information providing you with all the information you need to evaluate the different Hot Tubs and Swim Spas.
We hope you like the site as much as we do, but don’t forget we have a huge showroom in Norwich which boasts a wide range of operational Hot Tubs and Swim Spas for you to look at for real, rather than just on the web. We are located at 20, Kingsway City Trading Estate, Kingsway, Norwich NR2 4UE, which is just opposite Go Outdoors, 200 yards behind Halfords.
Our website is open 24/365 and our showroom opening hours are Monday to Saturday 10.30am to 4.00pm and by appointment on a Sunday. We look forward to seeing you soon.

It’s time for a hot tub
We have certainly been very lucky with the summer weather. In fact, the Met Office has said that 2018 could be our hottest summer on record!
With this amazing hot weather, it has been an extremely busy time for us at the Hot Tub and Swim Spa Centre. Some people say that it is too hot for hot tubbing which is one of those myths as you have full control on the temperature.
Here are our top tips to get the maximum use from your hot tub during the summer:
- Reduce the temperature down from the normal 38 degrees and enjoy the wonders of a hot tub. If you want a relaxing experience in your hot tub during the day, try turning the temperature down to 35 degrees Celsius or even lower. Anything lower than your average body temperature, which is 37 degrees, will feel relaxing, even during the hottest days.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fresh, cold water beforehand. Keep a bottle of water by the hot tub and drink while soaking, as well.
- Give yourself a bit more protection by adding some shade to your hot tub set-up.
- Take an early evening dip! Once the sun has set, you can be sure you’ll be better protected from the elements as you enjoy your soak and with mood lighting you can create a lovely ambience. You could also do some star gazing.
We also wanted to cover off another myth this month. It relates to the cost of running a hot tub. We get a number of enquiries relating to this subject with many people having pre-conceived answers that hot tubs are far too expensive.
As an example, if you maintained water temperature of 38°C, the average weekly electricity running cost starts from £20 to £40 per month. For imported, low quality hot tubs this could increase to as much as £100 per month.
All of our tubs are eco-friendly using state-of-the-art heatlock systems. This means they are the most efficient and very economical to run.
So, is it time for you to get a hot tub? Visit our Norwich Showroom which boasts a wide range of operational Hot Tubs & SwimSpas. We are open Monday- Saturday 10.30am – 4.00pm and Sunday’s by appointment. Call us on 01603 860660 and we will be happy to help. We are located opposite Go Outdoors, 200 yards behind Halfords (20, Kingsway, City Trading Estate, Norwich NR2 4UE)
